Amazing Archive of Documents from Eminem Early Car Purchase with FOUR (4) Rare "Marshall Mathers" Signatures!
A simple search on Google for "Eminem Cars" will lead you to a myriad of articles, photos and videos about Eminem's expansive and impressive car collection. Ranging from Ferrari to Porsche and other prestigious brands, it appears that Em doesn't own anything less than a 6-figure vehicle, and several of his prized cars may be worth in excess of 7-figures each! While it's certainly understandable that Eminem would own such a collection today, the presented offering gives an incredible look into a much different time in the rap icon's life when such a collection appeared to be nothing more than a pipe dream.
Offered is an assembly of twenty (20) documents relating to a car purchase made by Eminem on May 18, 1998 at a now-defunct local car lot in Eastpointe, MI--a mere 5 minutes from the famed 8-Mile Road that Eminem so frequently talks about in his music. Less than a year away from the release of his Slim Shady LP and on the cusp of exploding onto the music scene, the then-struggling rapper makes a modest purchase of a used 1993 Plymouth Laser RS for the amount of $6,995.00, with Em putting $3,000 down and financing the balance. The highlight of this archive of documents is 3 pages showcasing 4 live ink signatures (along with 3 live ink "MM" initials) bearing incredibly rare, full-name signatures in black ink, "Marshall Mathers." To date, this is the first item we've ever handled or seen anything that bears Eminem's full legal name. Accompanying these signed documents are a variety of carbon copies and/or photocopies of additional documents--amongst them a warranty sheet and an application for title--which showcase further details of the transaction and showcase additional carbon copy examples of Em's incredibly scarce full legal signature (3 documents in total contains 4 live ink signatures and 3 live ink initials). The document set--which served as the dealer's copies of the transaction--has remained well preserved in the nearly 25 years since the transaction occurred and stand in fine condition.
Further research shows that Eminem owned the car for less than a year, and with good cause. Just nine months after acquiring the vehicle, Interscope Records would release The Slim Shady LP on February 23, 1999. Public record shows that the car was sold again just two days later on February 25th, which means that this car was likely Eminem's final vehicle before hitting it big. A tremendously intriguing and desirable piece of Eminem memorabilia, showcasing his humble means before his meteoric rise to superstardom just months later! Accompanied by full Letters of Authenticity for the hand signed pages from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
