Here is a stunning example of the Beastie Boys’ 1989 second studio album Paul’s Boutique signed beautifully in silver marker by Michael "Mike D" Diamond, Adam "MCA" Yauch, and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz. MCA has also signed perfectly in black marker beneath his more prominent silver signature. This is a 2009 20th Anniversary Capitol Records double gatefold vinyl reissue of the Beasties legendary release. Tragically, the world would lose Adam Yauch to cancer in 2012. As such, the window for having this album signed by Adam was very small. Add to that, the advent of the compact disc in the ‘80s and 90’s, and very few fully signed vinyl albums, particularly by all three members of the Beatie Boy’s, are known to exist. To date, this is the ONLY fully example of this legendary hip hop album that we have encountered!
Produced by the Dust Brothers, Paul’s Boutique has become a thing of legend. The album is composed almost entirely from samples and was recorded over two years at Matt Dike's apartment and the Record Plant in Los Angeles. Although Paul's Boutique didn’t match the sales of group's 1986 debut Licensed to Ill, and was promoted minimally by Capitol, it has become recognized as a breakthrough achievement, with its innovative lyrical and sonic style. Often described as the "Sgt. Pepper of hip hop", today Paul's Boutique is critically acclaimed as one of the most influential hip hop albums of all time. The album has placed on several lists of the greatest albums of all time and is viewed by many critics as a landmark album in hip hop. Rolling Stone magazine ranked the album No. 125 on its list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
The cover, original inner sleeve and original vinyl record are all in stunning near mint condition. Authentically signed albums by the Beastie Boys are exceedingly rare, and this legendary title is considered a unicorn to many collectors. An absolutely stunning signed example of the Beastie’s magnum opus.
