Handwritten note signed “Dutch,” one page, 6.25" x 4.25", personal letterhead, July 11, 1991. Letter to his longtime friend Lydia ‘Hup’ MacArthur. In full: “It's good to hear from you and I'm most grateful for your kind words about the books. Nancy also says thanks. We are both happy about your health and hope your knee will improve. Give Dottie our love and you both will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. We're enjoying life now that we are back in our beloved Calif. Love, Dutch.” In fine condition. Lydia Hupfer ‘Hup’ MacArthur was the widow of Pete MacArthur, program director of WOC in Davenport, Iowa. In 1932, MacArthur had given a then 21-year-old Reagan his first job as a sports announcer. They would remain friends until her passing at the age of 102 in 1995.
