On December 28, 1958, Johnny Unitas & the Baltimore Colts defeated the New York Giants 23–17 in the first overtime game in NFL history. Often referred to as the "greatest game ever played", the game, nationally televised by NBC, has been credited for sparking the rise in popularity of professional football during the 1960s. Offered here is an ultra-rare Pro Bowl Los Angeles Newspaper Publishers Association Football Charity Fund check issued to John Unitas on January 11th, 1959 for the total of $472.65. Singed in vintage blue ballpoint on the reverse by Johnny Unitas, "John Unitas". Overall in fine condition with minor handling wear.
