Items signed by baseball’s top two hit kings, Pete Rose and Ty Cobb, are naturally rare, in part because these two legends are from entirely different eras. Offered here is an item signed by both—a feat that is rarely seen: a Ty Cobb personal check. The check, dated October 25, 1948, is made out to “P.G. & E. Co.” in the amount of $14.04 and is signed in black ink (rating “9-10”) “Tyrus R. Cobb.” Cobb’s preprinted name appears along the left border. Years later the check was signed in black ink (rating “10”) by Pete Rose directly to the left of Cobb’s signature. Rose broke Cobb’s hit record on September 11, 1985, and finished his career with 4,256 hits. The check features a heavy cancellation stamp in the center, however this stamping does not affect Cobb's signature and is only lightly intersecting the tail end of Rose's autograph.
