During the 1960's, the race to land the first man on the moon was front and foremost in the minds of the American and Russian governments. While each space program had their fair share of setbacks, the United States space program took its biggest step at 4:18 p.m. ET, on July 20, 1969. In the area of the moon known as "The Sea of Tranquility" the Apollo lunar lander touched down on the surface of the moon. Fans standing for the National Anthem at Yankee Stadium cheered, while across the ocean in London, England the broadcasters announce, "The American's have done it!" That moment defined the end of the turbulent 1960's as America emerged as the winner in the race to the surface of the moon. Presented is a commemorative Kennedy Space Center cover honoring the historic Apollo 11 crew, nicely hand signed by Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins in black ink. There is some very minor brushing to Armstrong's strong black ink autograph, however the cover remains in otherwise very fine condition. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
