Avery was one of the original nine Knickerbockers to take part in a game against the New York Ball Club on June 19, 1846. Played under the new rules formulated by Alexander Cartwright, that game is widely considered the first organized baseball game in history. Avery has signed this 4” x 6” page is signed in fountain pen. Encapsulation by PSA/DNA protecting this scarce autograph for years to come.
