How many of these have you ever seen? Moore and Henderson are historically connected to one of the most tragic stories in sports history. Moore was with the California Angels when they faced Henderson’s Boston Red Sox in the 1986 American League Championship Series. The Angels had a 3-1 series lead going into Game 5 and the Angels were leading the game 5-2 going into the 9th inning. The Red Sox rallied to cut the deficit to 5-4 when Moore came in to shut down the rally. There were 2 outs and a runner on first and the Angels were 1 strike away from advancing to the World Series for the first time in franchise history when Dave Henderson hit a 2-2 pitch off Moore for a home run to give the Red Sox a 6-5 lead. The Red Sox went on to win the game in extra innings and came all the way back to win the series and advance to the World Series. Moore became a pariah in California, being relentlessly booed the next season. He went into a depression as a result and his career ended with a string of injuries two years after the crucial Game 5. He committed suicide less than a year after his retirement in 1989. Official Bobby Brown American league ball signed on the sweet spot by Dave Henderson in black ink and Donnie Moore on the north panel in blue ink. He added “Best Wishes + Good Luck” on an opposite panel. Nm/Mt signatures. There is a barely noticeable coating of shellac over the signatures and the ball is mildly toned. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
