Organized crime boss who became a major media celebrity. After an extensive operation that cost $75 million, Gotti, who had repeatedly eluded the law, was finally convicted of murder and racketeering in 1992. As a repeat offender, he was sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole and sent to federal prison in Marion, Illinois, where he died in 2002. Endorsed Scorpio Marketing Inc. business check, 8.25" x 3", filled out in another hand and bearing a stamped signature of a Scorpio executive, payable to Gotti for $823.97, stamp-dated September 25, 1992. Endorsed on the reverse in black ballpoint, 'J. Gotti.' In fine condition, with expected stamps to both sides. Tastefully matted along with two 8" x 10" photographs of the famed mobster and housed in a beautiful black beveled frame, measuring 24" x 30" overall. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
