Up for auction is an original piece of wood from the Hindenburg disaster. Mounted in a matted display along with a picture of the Hindenburg on fire and a copy of the official Nazi German program for it.
There is a descriptive plaque that reads: "On May 6, 1937 at 7:25 PM EST the German zeppelin Hindenburg caught fire while attempting to dock with its mooring mast at Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey. The ship was destroyed in less than a minute, killing 35 people on board. At the time, the LZ-129 Hindenburg was the largest aircraft ever. This is a remnant piece of wood from the Hindenburg"
