A magnificent letter with remarkable insight from arguably the man whose career Major League pitching victories record will likely stand for eternity. Pitching legend Cy Young pens this single page response to an advice seeker. The content is profound given the source, with Young stating, "One way to learn this game is to take lots of time. Play ball as often as you can. Pick out some spot you like in the game that was the way I done. Then get a chance for a try out after you are sure you can make the grade. I do not think you can learn it over night. You can learn after 13 yrs, 20 yrs or at least I learned till the end of my career..." Penned entirely by Young in a rich blue fountain pen ink, with the text and the signature at the conclusion easily rating a solid 9/10. Single lined page of notebook paper exhibits original mailing folds but no issues of concern. Original mailing envelope postmarked from Young's Newcomerstown, Ohio hometown is included. Young handwritten letters are scarce, and this is by far the best letter—by both quality and content—that we’ve encountered. Accompanied by Letters of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA) and PSA/DNA.
