General George Pickett of the Confederate Army is best known for the disastrous charge at Gettysburg in which most of his troops were lost. Civil War dated, circa 1864-65, three-page hand written letter "George" at the end of the letter, addressed in his hand to George's wife Mrs. George E. Pickett[presenting 2nd signature], measuring overall 4" x 6", love letter to his wife Sallie, letter reads in part: "I could not forego the opportunity of saying to my Sallie how I do want to see her...I want to kiss her so much...there are three ladies sitting on a porch looking at me...I don't want to look at any one but Sallie. She is the darling of my heart...", written entirely in lead pencil, fading to some writing with mild staining.
