Nearly 70 years following the Death of the Yankee slugger Babe Ruth, his accomplishments seem as lively as ever. With crazy career stats such as a .342 batting average, 714 home runs & a 2.28 earned run average, Babe Ruth is widely considered the best MLB player of all-time & possibly the most dominant sport figure in the history of America. Despite the Babe's larger than life achievements on the diamond, Ruth would develop cancer in 1946. Between the years of 1946-1948, Ruth would see many visits in-and-out of the hospital, especially weeks prior to his death. For that reason, this maybe the last ever 8" x 10" photo Ruth ever had a chance to sign, as thousands of fans clustered outside Ruth's hospital hoping for a change in health for the beloved Yankee. Sadly on August 16th, 1948, at 8:01 PM, Ruth passed. This photo in particular shows signs of Ruth's declining health as it was signed for a fellow named Ray Treimer which Ruth would spell incorrectly & the collector would switch the I & E to reflect the correct spelling. Years later baseball historians & sport fans alike would speak highly of Ruth, making another classic quote from The Sandlot ring true: "Heros get remembered, but legends never die." Overall in fine condition with one minor surface impression near Ruth's right hand. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
Exceptional Babe Ruth Signed 8" x 10" Photo Dated Weeks Prior to His Death! (PSA/DNA)
