Robert Morris, otherwise known as the 'Financier of the Revolution' & for being part of an exclusive group of only two who signed off on all three major founding documents in the infancy of the United States of America. With such a lavish history, things didn't always go as planned for Morris. Morris would come onto rough times towards the end of his life with, oddly enough, finance issues. Documents dating prior to this epic collapse of wealth are considered highly desirable in the hobby due to their utter rarity. Going from a War hero who paid £1,000,000 (about $114 million pounds today) to pay the Continental troops during war, to a failed land prospector. This rare Revolutionary War era signed "Robt Morris" one page 7.5 x 9" dated Febuary 7, 1783 which dates back to that particularly desirable period of Morris life prior to the failed land prospecting. Reads in full "I do myself the honor to enclose the copies of certain Acts & Orders of Congress of the Twlfth seventeen and eighteenth instant. I am to entreat that your Excellency will take the earliest opportunity of submitting them to the Legislature of your State." Signed & hand written at the conclusion " His Excelly, The President of New Hampshire." Overall in fine condition with two horizontal folds. We guarantee this lot to pass PSA/DNA or JSA authentication, and full certification can be arranged for an additional fee (please contact us at Contactus@iconicauctions.com for further details).
