Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States, serving from 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. Offered here is a military appointment dated February 24, 1863 for Medal of Honor recipient Myles Moyland. Lincoln appoints Moyland "a Second Lieutenant in the Fifth Regiment of Cavalry in the service of the United States." It is signed nicely at the bottom by President Lincoln and countersigned by Secretary of War, Edwin M. Stanton. The Presidential seal is still intact and the document is in overall great condition with interesecting horizontal and vertical folds. The document has been beautifully framed and matted along with two other photos of Lincoln, to the overall size of 28.5" x 33.5". A fantastic display piece commemorating one of the greatest Presidents in U.S. history.
