Offered here is a one page, 15 x 12 document dated, June 9, 1788. As governor of Massachusetts, Hancock appoints Abel Wentworth as “Ensign of a company in the fourth Regiment and first Division of the militia in this Commonwealth.” Signed on the left side by Hancock and countersigned at the conclusion by John Avery as secretary. Exceptional bold signature from Hancock. In fine condition with minor repairs to intersecting folds. Authenticated by PSA/DNA with a full letter of authenticity.
