This letter, dated April 23, 1898 and on Navy Department letterhead, reads in full: "My dear Sir:- I would be very glad to further your application for appointment in the Army if I could, but the Secretary of War will not listen to what the subordinate of another department has to say about such matters. Any suggestion from me would very properly be resented, so I am afraid I can be of no service whatever. With regret, Very sincerely yours". Teddy has gone on to sign his name "T. Roosevelt" in steel tip. There are several folds and scattered toning. In overall fine condition. Accompanied by full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
