Between the months of April and June of 1954 the Army and Joseph McCarthy held hearings about conflicting accusations made between the two. With the news embracing the American people in what was the height of the "Red Scare," even a dashing Senator from Massachusetts had to chime in his thoughts. With his brother, Robert F. Kennedy, appointed by McCarthy as assistant counsel in 1953, the future President choose his words wisely on this offering. This original 6" x 9.5" June 1954 U.S. Senator letter has been signed at the conclusion in bold steel tip ink, "John Kennedy," signing off on his views of the controversial situation. Given the support provided to the Roman Catholics & the Kennedy family by McCarthy, even dating two Kennedy daughters, Patricia and Eunice, you can assume John's support was with the Senator. Overall in fine condition with horizontal folds. We guarantee this lot to pass PSA/DNA or JSA authentication, and full certification can be arranged for an additional fee (please contact us at info@iconicauctions.com for further details).
