Desirable partly printed 1856 Presidential document signed by Franklin Pierce as he appoints Andrew W. Johnson as “a Lieutenant in the Navy.” The 15" x 18" document is crisply signed at the conclusion by President Pierce and countersigned by Secretary of the Navy James C. Dobbin. The orange seal affixed at the bottom remains intact with the document having minor paper loss & intersecting folds.
