While at the time the importance of the Morocco Treaty seemed small in world history, hindsight would be 20/20. A dispute over economic issues in Morocco pinned the U.S. in European affairs for the first time in many years, something President Roosevelt tried his damnedest to avoid, and for good reason. The United States would side with the French along with, Italy, Russia, and, more significantly, Britain. Opposing the deal was Austria-Hungary, who supported the German views, helping foreshadow the roles/sides in World War I, to which the Moroccan Crisis was a prelude. This original Presidential letter signed by Roosevelt makes mention to what would be a crucial severing of relationships in Europe, the Morocco Treaty. One can see the President's passion behind the subject making it known, "I am literally unable to understand how any can find anything whatever to object to this treaty." A exceptional content driven letter from tight lipped leader President Theodore Roosevelt during one of his most important moments. Overall in fine condition with minor handling wear and a central fold. Authenticated by PSA/DNA with a full letter of authenticity.
