A four-language ship's paper printed in English, Dutch, Spanish and French. These documents were like a passport, indicating that the vessel sailed under the protection of the United States. Partly-printed document signed, with each section in respective languages headed "James Madison, President of the United States," measuring to 16" x 20, signed June 13, 1809. The Secretary of State has not countersigned this document as would normally be the custom, as it is noted that "The office of Secretary of State vacant at the signing by the President." Three vertical and two horizontal folds with some soiling, otherwise in fine condition. The 16" x 20" document has been framed and matted and is ready for immediate display. There are two seals intact. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
