American five-star admiral who was the Commander of the U.S. Pacific fleet and chief of naval operations during World War II. Black and white photo picturing Nimitz signing the Japanese surrender documents onboard the U.S.S. Missouri on September 2, 1945. The photo is signed in black ink with “U.S. Representative” inscription, Nm to Mt signature. The photo has the printed names with accompanying numbers of 22 American officers at the signing shown in the photo with Nimitz adding in his hand the names of two officers who weren’t identified in the photo in the bottom margin. We have never seen another of this image with the two unidentified officers identified by Nimitz. Overall fine condition. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
