Gerald Ford was a Detroit Tigers fan while growing up in Michigan. An athlete himself, he played football at the University of Michigan. When Ford was elected to Congress in 1948, according to the White House website, he showed "exceptional baseball talent" on the congressional baseball team. He was in attendance when Hank Aaron hit his 714th home run and he threw out the first pitch for the Texas Rangers opener against the Twins in 1976. Perhaps most relevant to this particular lot is that while in the White House, he signed a bill allowing girls to play Little League baseball. Fitting, then, is the offered Rawlings Official Little League baseball signed on the sweet spot by Gerald Ford in blue ballpoint pen. The ball remains overall clean with minor toning and the autograph stands strong. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
