President Millard Fillmore was an avid reader and bookworm who was the first to establish a library in the White House when he discovered its lack of reading material. Offered here is a hardcover Works of Michael de Montaigne Vol. III book from Fillmore's personal library, signed on the inside by then-President with the date "May 20 1861". The book stands in fine condition with typical shelf and age wear. The binding is intact with some splitting beginning to occur along the edge of the spine. An excellent relic from a Presidential library! Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
