Nicknamed "The Toy Cannon" for his short but powerful physique, Jimmy Wynn debuted with the Astros in 1963, one year after the club's inaugural season. Beginning in 1965, his first full season, through 1970, Wynn led the Astros in home runs every season, including a career high 37 in 1967. Wynn batted .269 with 33 home runs and 87 RBI in 1969. In 2005 Jimmy Wynn became the seventh player in Astros history to have his number permanently retired. Offered here is an extraordinary 1969 knit gray road flannel jersey worn by "The Toy Cannon" Jimmy Wynn in 1969 for the Houston Astros. Baring the desirable 100th anniversary patch which was supported by every MLB team in 1969, and a circular Astros patch on the right sleeve. Tagged properly as a "Set 1 1969" on the strip and "40-24 69" for the size, uniform number & year on the back collar. With no alterations and great use, MEARS has graded this fine specimen an impressive 8.5 with a full letter of authenticity.
