The only thing Ted Williams did better than talk about baseballs was hit them. Anyone who ever heard the man talk about hitting stood or sat mesmerized, hanging onto every one of his words. And it's no surprise - in 1941, he hit .406, and nearly 80 years and thousands of players later, no one else has finished a season with a batting average that began with a 4. Just as anybody would want to hear Teddy Baseball talk about batting, there is no doubt that being provided written batting tips from him would be the next best thing. Offered here is a note on The Somerset Massachusetts hotel letterhead, completely in Williams' hand, with stream of consciousness notes and tips on how to be a successful hitter. Scattered notes include: "Grip Stance Position in Box = BALANCE"; "How hard should you swing"; "Real secret of hitting is getting a good to hit & learning to get as much wrist and hands into the ball at impact."; "learn strike zone"; "position of hands, length of stroke, type of stroke" and several others! He has also listed some names at the top, presumably of those he believed to have been the best: "Hornsby, Cobb?, Sisler, Warner, Fonseca". Lastly, the slugger has signed his name "Ted Williams" diagonally across the top left corner. This is by far the most unique and one-of-a-kind Ted Williams item we have ever offered. Who doesn't want to own a list of tips from the Splendid Splinter himself?? In fine condition with one horizontal crease and light toning and handling wear to the edges. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
