A college basketball legend, "Pistol Pete" is still the all-time leading NCAA Division I scorer with 3,667 poitns scored and an average of 44.2 points per game. He took his incredible talent to the NBA where he was a 5-time All-Star and averaged 24.2 points per game during his career. His numbers could have been greater if not for injuries that forced him to retire prematurely in 1980. One of the youngest players ever inducted into the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame, Maravich was cited by the Hall as "perhaps the greatest creative offensive talent in history". Maravich died suddenly at age 40 during a pick-up game of basketball in 1988. Offered here is a tremendous original December 1969 full Sports Illustrated Magazine signed on the front cover by Pistol Pete in ballpoint pen. Overall in fine condition with a label removal to the left hand side. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
