The third mission to the Moon, Apollo 14 would successfully launch on January 31st, 1971 and end on February 9th, 1971 landing into the South Pacific Ocean. Capturing the start of the historic mission to the Moon was Karl Schumacher who snapped this original 11" x 14" color photograph of the Apollo 14 Space Module going into orbit behind pilot Edgar D. Mitchell. Superbly signed on the 14" x 17" border by Alan Shepard, Stuart A. Roosa and Edgar Mitchell with Shepard adding a "To Karl Schumacher, with our congratulations for this fantastic shot! Apollo 14 1/13/71" inscription. Overall in fine condition with minor handling wear.Part of an original collection from acclaimed White House photographer Karl Schumacher who served during the Carter-Ford-Reagan years capturing some of history's most famous moments during the 1970's and 80's.
