Ozzie Smith was given this incredible "The Philadelphia Bowl" by the Philadelphia Phillies upon the occasion of Smith's final swing through National League cities in the summer of his final year on active duty in 1996. As seen with many hall of famers, most recently Derek Jeter & Big Papi, teams will choose to honor players with one-of-a-kind artifacts. The Philadelphia Bowl was made exclusively for the Bailey Banks & Biddle Company by Wedgwood. It is a creamware bowl, 12 inches in diameter, decorated in Williamsburg Sepia art on inside & out by Alan Price to showcase 17th-18th century Philadelphia. The bowl rests atop a 10-inch square graduated base (7-inch square at the top) of polished black wood, affixed with a silver plaque that reads: Presented to Ozzie Smith, The Wizard of Oz, Thank you for all of the wonderful memories! August 1, 1996," with an engraving of the Phillies Liberty Bell team logo well represented. Bowl and pedestal appear to be in fine condition with minor brushing to the base. Authenticated by Ozzie Smith with a full letter of authenticity stating prior ownership.
