Offered here is a one-page handwritten letter dated March 25, 1829 from President James Monroe to Secretary of the Treasury Samuel D. Ingham. Reads, in part: "Major Noland a near neighbour and friend, having requested an introduction to you, I most readily give it, to comply with his desire & at the same time to assure you of the interest, I take, in your health and welfare. I have been more than three weeks confined to my room, & until lately to my bed, by a severe cold and fever, from which I am slowly recovering." In fine condition, with minor separation along the folds. Monroe himself has addressed the Ingham on the reverse, with other notations in an unknown hand above the address. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
