Here is a very rare 1977 MCA Records first vinyl pressing of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Street Survivors” album, signed on the inner gatefold by Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Allen Collins, Gary Rossington, Leon Wilkerson (who has added MANSTER), Artimus Pyle, and Billy Powell. All seven bandmembers have signed beautifully in black ballpoint pen. In our 15+ years, this stands as only the 2nd example of this coveted album that we've ever seen or handled!
The album was signed on the day it was released, at a record store meet and greet in Altamonte Springs, Florida, on October 17th, 1977, and just three days before Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ill-fated flight bound for Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The resulting crash took the lives of Ronnie Van Zant, Steve and Cassie Gaines, assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, and pilots Walter McCreary and William Gray. An altogether incredible and highly displayable album signed by the entire band just days before their tragic, career-altering flight – a true rock and roll rarity. Included are several modern prints of the October 17th meet and greet.
The album is in overall very good condition with some moderate creasing and handling wear along the spine, as pictured. The signatures are bold and clean and the piece presents a great appearance for a 45+ year old album that likely spent a good amount of time exposed to the elements of the south. Included is the signed album, the original vinyl record and the original inserts. Impressive!
