Mark David Chapman Signed "Catcher in the Rye" Letter to his Arresting Officer (JSA)

Offered here is a personal letter, dated May 31st, 1983. This letter reads "Dear Steve, read The Catcher in the Rye" and has been signed by Mark David Chapman at the conclusion. The letter has multiple creases and shows evidence of handling wear, not impacting Chapman's signature. The letter remains overall in fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope as well as a Certificate of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication.

Chapman murdered John Lennon in 1980, and was reportedly carrying a copy of J.D. Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye" at the time of the shooting. Chapman has stated that he identified with the novel's protagonist, Holden Caulfield, and saw himself as a "catcher in the rye,"
