Rawlings Model MM "Mickey Mantle Personal Model" left handed c. 1954-56 glove displaying "heavy to excessive" wear throughout. As relayed in the accompanying documentation, the glove was obtained from Mantle by a friend of Mantles following the summer of 1956, arguably Mantle's best year of his steller career. The two had met years prior as the original recipient struck a friendship with Philadelphia Athletics player Eddie Joost. Over subsequent dinners, Joost would invite "Uncle Rog" out with Mickey Mantle, where they soon became close as well. Though lacking any player specific identifiers (such as written on number or name), MEARS has concluded, based on provenance and their research, that the glove itself is deemed "Authentic" as a 1954-56 New York Yankees personal model MM baseball glove exhibiting heavy use. Although the glove cannot be determined as game used or just exhibiting use by Mantle, the accompanying documentation, along with the Mears conclusion, leave one to believe this may have been used by the Yankee legend himself during arguably the pinnacle of his illustrious career. Overall in fine condition with great use & minor handling wear. Authenticated by MEARS authentication with a letter of authenticity.
