Original Geffen Records Publicity Photo for Nirvana's Groundbreaking "Nevermind" Album Release Signed by The Band!
In the early 1990's there simply wasn't a bigger band on Earth than Nirvana. Hailing from the shores of Seattle, Nirvana would take the music World by storm following the release of their 1991 LP Nevermind. Most notable for their Grunge sound forged by the late great Kurt Cobain, Nirvana would change the landscape of Rock music over the course of only a few years. For many reasons Nirvana group signed items are amongst the toughest in all of the hobby, but most notably would be the introverted nature of Cobain that made autograph request nearly impossible. Reluctant to accept the fame, Cobain would find himself in a spiral due to his heroin addiction which took his life on April 8th, 1994.
Offered here is a piece that is of historic lore in and of itself. This 8" x 10" black and white Geffen Records publicity photo was created and released by the label in late 1991 to promote the release of the band's now legendary "Nevermind" album. According to research, the band was assembled in Los Angeles by the record company to do promotions for the alnbum, and during that time a small number of these photos were put in front of the band for them to sign. Showcased on this photograph are the authentic black felt tip marker autographs of all three members: Kurt Cobain, David Grohl and Krist Novoselic (who signed "Chris" early in the band's formation prior to switching to "Krist"). There is some minor smudging to the signatures as showcased--likely from flipping from one photograph to the next. Some minor surface impressions from handling, otherwise fine. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
