‘Being unable to travel abroad to see Wings on their European Tour in 1972 I actually bought the tour programme from the Wings Fun Club, being a member. Whilst attending a Wings concert at the Apollo Theatre in Manchester in November 1979 I took the programme with me as I was hoping to catch the band for autographs after the show. Having heard that the band were staying at the Piccadilly Plaza Hotel in Manchester, some friends and I dashed from the concert at the end and drove there just in time to catch the band arriving on their coach and entering the underground car park.
The band were in good spirits and as they were making their way into the hotel, we managed to get autographs and have a chat. Linda was particularly keen to know if we had enjoyed the show and Paul was happy to allow my friend and I a peck on the cheek. Steve Holly was a little worse for wear and went straight into the hotel!
It was a great experience to meet them this way and as there were only a few fans around they took the time to talk to us and sign everything’.
