Offered here is a great relic from the early days of Barack Obama's now storied political career. This check, measuring 8" x 3" and dated January 4, 1996, is drawn from Obama's campaign account for his first major run in politics as an Illinois State Senator. The check--which is penned in blue ink and entirely in Obama's hand (with exception of a second signer below him) is made payable to Carol Harwell for $2,000 and is noted as being for campaign consulting, as Harwell served as Obama's campaign manager during this period of time. The check is fully handwritten by Obama and showcases a desirable early era signature. Well preserved and in excellent condition.
