Presented on White House stationery is a rare John F. Kennedy typed, signed letter with his own holographic notations as President. It is dated the first year of his term in November 14, 1961. The letter was written to Arthur Krock who wrote a column in the New York Times. The article was a tribute to Anthony J. Drexel Biddle Jr. (Spanish Ambassador), who died the day before of lung cancer. Moved by Krock's words, President Kennedy writes, "That was a beautifully written column this morning and unlike many things which are written about the dead, more than deserving." Kennedy crossed out some of the wording and hand-wrote the edit as: "unlike many things that are written on these occasions, more than deserved." Kennedy signed the document in black steel tip fountain pen. Aside from a trivial staple impression in the upper left corner the letter is in superb condition. Backed to a slightly larger sheet for reinforcement and ready for framing. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
