Presented here for your bidding consideration is a vintage cloth-covered autograph book, 3.5" x 2.5", circa 1939-1940. Formerly property of Elizabeth Hardinge, whose father was Baron Hardinge, Private Secretary to King George VI and son of Charles Hardinge, Viceroy of India from 1910-1916. Within the book are the autographs of grade school children who had direct association with the throne, including members of the Buckingham Palace Girl Guides and Brownie Pack. Of course, the centerpiece to the book is a beautiful fountain pen signatures simply penned "Elizabeth" and "Margaret Rose" in the hand of the young Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret, who were 14 years old and 9 years old, respective, at the time the signatures were executed. Ideally, both are placed on the open face of two pages, allowing for the young royals coveted scripting to be displayed together. Autographs from either of these British icons would be desirable in any form, but to have examples from such an early, formative era is truly remarkable.
