Here is an extraordinary Queen collectible! An exceedingly rare 14” REMO Weather King snare drum skin that was used extensively by Roger Taylor during the legendary Queen Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert performance that took place at Wembley Stadium, Wembley, London on April 20th, 1992, just months after Freddie Mercury’s untimely passing. The drumskin has been signed by Roger Taylor in black felt tip pen, while adding ‘Wembley 1992’ beneath his signature. As expected, the drumskin exhibits excessive wear and is in stage-used condition. Following Freddie’s death on November 24th, 1991, the remaining members of Queen and their manager Jim Beach decided to organize a special tribute concert to celebrate the life and legacy of Freddie Mercury,  and to raise money for AIDS research and to spread awareness about the disease. When tickets went on sale for the concert the entire 72,000 seat stadium was sold out within three hours, even though no performers, apart from the remaining members of Queen, had been announced. Eventually, some of the biggest acts in the world appear, including Metallica, Def Leppard, U2, and Guns N' Roses. During Queen’s performance a host of people would perform with the group including Slash, Roger Daltrey, Tony Iommi, James Hetfield, Robert Plant, Seal, David Bowie, Mick Ronson, Ian Hunter, George Michael, Elton John, and Axl Rose. The concert was broadcast live on television and radio to 76 countries around the world, with an audience of up to one billion. The concert included countless Queen classics, including: Tie Your Mother Down, Hammer to Fall, Stone Cold Crazy, Innuendo, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Radio Ga Ga, Who Wants to Live Forever, I Want to Break Free, Under Pressure, Somebody to Love, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Show Must Go On, We Will Rock You, and We Are the Champions. This event is widely considered the greatest tribute concert of all time. The signed drumskin is accompanied by a pair of unused Roger Taylor signature model VATOR drumsticks. Any authentic stage played equipment used by original Queen bandmembers is extremely rare and highly prized. That fact that this drumskin is tied directly to the legendary Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, elevates this as an historically significant Queen artifact.
