Robert E. Lee secured his fame/notoriety as the commander of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia during the Civil War in 1862-65, engaging in heated battles with Union forces. He beared only three stars as a General, equivalent to his last U.S. Army rank, the only member of the first five full Generals to not tote the general's insignia. Offered here is a tremendous 2" x 3.5" carte-de-visite portrait of the Confederate General, signed in the bottom portion "R. E. Lee." Overall in fine condition with two pieces of tape to the bottom two corners and evidence of some water damage to the reverse. Authenticated by Beckett Authentication Services (BAS) with a full Letter of Authenticity.
