Official American League (MacPhail) ball signed by Roger Maris. Maris has signed the ball in blue ballpoint pen across the sweet spot, with the signature rating a "9". Roger Maris is one of the most desirable of all non-Hall of Fame signatures, especially alone on a baseball. Unfortunately for collectors, Maris passed just prior to the "signing-show boom," thus resulting in the rarity of Maris singles in the hobby today. Maris has long been a favorite of forgers. With a limited supply and high demand, it’s no wonder that Maris’ signature is one of the most commonly forged of all modern-era stars. Given the large number of problem "Maris" balls circulating in the marketplace today, an authentic Maris ball such as this is especially desirable.
