The twelve volumes of the Gesammelte Schriften constitute the first publication of Freud's complete works in his native language. Prior to the publication of these volumes, Freud had for the most part published his work in the form of monographs, articles in journals or annals, or contributions to anthologies and collections. Thus, the "twelve volumes in dictionary format" of the Gesammelte Schriften gave readers their first general view of the full scope and import of Freud's work. Offered here is the hardcover first edition of the first volume of the series, signed on the inside page "Sigm. Freud 1936" in graphite. In overall fine condition, first printings of any of the Gesammelte are extremely rare and desirable! The book remains completely intact and is ready to add to any collection.
