Well before making it to the NFL and eventually becoming the legend that he is now known as, Steve Young made a name for himself early on in his career, setting school and NCAA records and being runner-up for the Heisman Trophy in his time with Brigham Young University. Shortly thereafter, Young signed a 10-year, $40 million contract with the USFL's Los Angeles Express. His time with the team was riddled with financial issues from both the team owner and the league as a whole, although the Express did make it to the playoffs in the 1984 season. Young eventually moved onto the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1985. In the 15 years thereafter, Steve Young made a name for himself as one of the best passers of all time in the NFL and one of the 49ers' most successful quarterbacks, along with Joe Montana. Offered here is a Medalist Sand-Knit Los Angeles Express jersey used by Young in his 1985 season with the team. The size 46 tag and all other appropriate tagging are sewn into the collar and the jersey shows moderate use. This is a fantastic collectible for a 49ers fan - or any football collector - commemorating the start of the career of one of the best quarterbacks of modern history.
