The image of the Beatles on the crossing has become one of the most famous and imitated in recording history. The front cover design, a photograph of the group traversing a zebra crossing, was based on sketched ideas by Paul McCartney and taken on 8 August 1969 outside EMI Studios on Abbey Road. Aside from being one of the most successful albums released by the Beatles, Abbey Road was also one of the most controversial, giving way to the famed "Paul is Dead" urban legend as a result of McCartney's barefooted appearance in the cover photo. Luckily Paul was not dead, and in fact alive and well enough to beautifully sign his name across the cover of this album pressing of the famed record in blue felt tip marker. The album is well preserved and stands in overall fine condition. There is some smudging to the signature. The whole album, along with the vinyl itself with the famed "Apple" symbol, has been framed to create a beautiful display piece that measures to 22.5" x 28.5". Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
