Excellent handwritten letter signed, "Sincerely, Ty Cobb," one page, 7.25" x 10.5", May 15, 1953, on personal letterhead. Writing from his Menlo Park, CA home. Sending a letter to an admirer and/or friend, Cobb replies back with a few pearls of wisdom on his baseball philosophy. In part,

Enclosed find a little thing I did on batting for the Louisville Slugger people who had been so nice to me for many years, hope your boy will get at least something out of what I tried to convey. I believe strongly in some of the fundamentals outlined...Tell your son to practice and this more."

Several years prior to this letter Cobb wrote a booklet entitled "Science of Batting" for Louisville Slugger, which illustrated his style of play and his suggested techniques in all aspects of baseball. The letter is cleanly penned in Cobb's favored green fountain pen ink and is beautifully signed by him at the conclusion. Well preserved and in excellent condition. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
