The most famous baseball player in Motor City history asks a friend, "Could you furnish me with the name and address of the coach of Detroit Hockey team. I know him well but sorry to say I can remember only his first name Jack. I want to write him but don't let him know I could not remember his last name." Cobb is surely referring to Hall of Famer Jack Adams, whose twenty-year term of service as Detroit coach had ended four years before Cobb's letter was mailed. Single page on Cobb's personal letterhead is penned in 10/10 green ink, including closing "Ty Cobb" signature. Lower edge of page is lightly trimmed but writing is unaffected. Some minor soiling causes no distraction, and the letter presents beautifully. Detroit collectors take notice! Accompanied by an Auction House Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
