Chipper Jones wrapped up his Hall of Fame-worthy career in 2012, spending 19 years with the same franchise, the Atlanta Braves. In the free-agency era, such a career with one team is a rarity in itself, let alone for nearly two decades. Despite his long & extremely successful career, game-used jerseys are tightly guarded by the Braves organization with many never to surface to the collector’s universe.
Offered here is a 2004 game-used & signed jersey by Chipper with excellent use. On the right front tail is the “Russell” manufacturer’s tag with the attached size “48” & “+2” Extra Length” flag tags. Across the front is “Braves”. Player number “10” appears on back. All these numbers and letters are done in red on navy blue tackle twill. Player name “JONES” appears on back in navy blue tackle twill on a white name plate. On the right sleeve is the team embroidered “21” patch in honor of the late-great Warren Sphan who passed away prior to the 2004 season. At the back of the neck is the official MLB embroidered logo patch. Chipper has signed the back in black felt tip marker adding “2004 Game Used”.
Game use is prevalent throughout the jersey with obvious sweat rivets to the back numbering & an apparent chewing tobacco stain near the upper left collar. The jersey has been washed & used numerous times apparent from the extreme wear to the 2004 tagging. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
