With the legendary Joe DiMaggio having departed and switch-hitting phenom Mickey Mantle in place, the 1952 New York Yankees continued a run of excellence not equaled before or since. In a dogfight with the Cleveland Indians, the Bronx Bombers authored a 19-5 September in completing their sixth of a record 12 successive seasons of 90-plus triumphs — and, of course, their fourth of an all-time best five straight World Series titles. Offered here is an Official American League (Harridge) baseball signed by 31 members of that vaunted squad. This handsome toned sphere boasts black & blue ink autographs that show about "7-9" overall strength. Headlined by a choice Mickey Mantle autograph of the era, other signers on the ball include: Yogi Berra, Casey Stengel (manager), Allie Reynolds, Billy Martin, Johnny Mize, Vic Raschi, Gus Mauch, Jim McDonald, Hank Bauer, Joe Collins, Jim Brideweser, Johnny Sain, Bobby Brown, GIl McDougald, Art Schallock, Bob Kuzava, Joe Ostrowski, Ralph Houk, Johnny Hopp, Stubby Overmire, Irv Noren, Bill Miller, Tom Morgan, Ed Lopat, Charlie Silvera, Gene Woodling, Phil Rizzuto, and Bobby Hogue. Since Stubby Overmire is included on the ball, the autographs may have been acquired at spring training of that year, as Overmire was claimed off of waivers in May of 1952 by the St. Louis Browns. A piece of masking tape on the south panel notes "NY Yanks World Champions 5 Times in a Row 1952". Ball exhibits uniform toning and soiling however signatures are dark and contrast well and the stampings stand out clear! Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA as well as a Letter of Provenance from the family of Gene Woodling.
