To this day, the story of Eddie Gaedel remains one tied into the deep fabric of Major League Baseball history. Perhaps Eddie's opposing pitcher sums it up best on his sought after story signed baseballs; "As you may know, Eddie Gaedel stepped out of a big birthday cake wearing a Brownie uniform #1/8. We all thought it was a big joke until the umpire asked for his contract which the Browns manager produced...I walked him on four pitches high." Measuring at 3' 7" tall, Eddie Gaedel's strike zone was deemed a mockery of the game an original struck from the record books, until MLB ruled it was indeed a fair at bat. Due to Gaedel's short run of fame (1 game) & lifespan living to only 36, any signed material is considered extremely scarce and desirable to MLB autograph collectors. Offered here is an impressive dual signed 5" x 9" promotional newspaper photograph dating directly from the famous doubleheader between the Browns and Detroit Tigers signed by the Eddie Gaedel & Max Patkin, both attendees of the unique baseball event. Easily one of the rarest baseball signed photos we have ever handled as only one signed Gaedel photograph has surfaced in the last 10 years per our research. Overall in good condition with tape adhered to protect the integrity of the item & the photograph matted to an overall size of 10" x 14". Authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA) with a full letter of authenticity.
