Former Oilers' forward Wayne Gretzky once described Ron Hextall as "probably the best goaltender I've ever played against in the NHL". A legend in Philadelphia, not just for his play, but his grit and blue collar mentality. Hextall always embraced the fact that he was a complete hockey player, not just a goalie. In 1987 as a rookie Hextall would break onto the scene in the NHL, securing the Vezina & Conn Smythe trophy while guiding the Flyers to the Stanley cup against the buzz saw Oilers with Gretzky.Offered here is a rare VIC goalie stick used & signed by Ron Hextall c. 1987 who adds his historic rookie accomplishments, "87 Vezina - 87 Conn Smythe" in felt tip marker. The stick shows excellent use, with the black tape removed/unwrapped, deadwood to the bottom & back of the stick, several puck marks & original knob tape.
